Welcome to bits-of-paper.com!

I am a lifelong artistic dabbler who finally found my artistic identity at the age of 22. At the time I was in my fourth year of architecture school at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. While I'm no longer using my architecture degree in a traditional sense, my love of the built form and the urban environment is one of several prevalent themes in my work.

These days I use a variety of media in my artwork, but for the most part I create works that are somewhere between mosaic and collage. Small squares of glossy, high-color paper that would otherwise end up in my recycle bin are applied to masonite or canvas with decoupage medium and varnished to seal the finished product. In a way, I use colored paper like a painter uses paint.

My artworks have found their way into private collections all over the country, as well as the Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and the Christopher Park Gallery in Greenville, South Carolina.

Primarily, however, my artwork now occupies a permanent space in my (hopefully soon to open) store called Fashioned By Jaye in Springfield, Missouri. I'll be participating in the First Friday Art Walks as soon as I can get the store open and ready, with new displays monthly.

Reproductions of various works are available on this site via my eBay store (user name bits-of-paper). Original artworks will also be listed in my eBay store if they do not sell while on display.

Never content to tie myself down to just one form of expression, I'm also a singer/songwriter (see www.b-o-pmusic.com) and a purveyor of handmade purses, jewelry, and home decor items (see my store's website at www.fashionedbyjaye.com). Use the links to the left to explore my virtual gallery! Enjoy!
